Making the Most of Small Office Spaces - Our top tips!
Here’s our top tips for maximising space in small offices:
In a small office space, cleaver office design is important for example utilising natural light as much as possible is crucial. Windows are great if you have them, but mirrors and shiny surfaces can also help to bounce light and make the space appear lighter and airy in the process.
Wherever possible, eliminate the need for paper filing. Clunky filing cabinets and storage units can take up vital space. Utilising the walls around you and installing shelving can be an excellent alternative to free up space.
You’ve got to have a desk but choosing light coloured, natural materials can often make the workplace seem brighter and more spacious.
In a small office space, clutter can build up fast and make the place really messy! It’s always good to recycle. Offering old equipment for schools or charity can be a great CSR initiative. Utilise clever storage solutions and multifunctional furniture is a great tool to maximise space and a sign of great office design.
There has been considerable research done into the psychological effects of colour. Some colours can ‘energise’ such as yellows where others can cause anger/aggression such as red. Avoid big patterns in small spaces but don’t be afraid of dark colours which can make the walls recede to give the illusion they are further away.
